Almost no university places left in Scotland

11th Aug 2010

Less then a week after record Scottish Higher exam results were revealed, there are almost no university places left in Scotland, leading lecturers to warn that some applicants may miss out on a university place.

There was so much competition that many institutions did not go into the clearing system at all the Herald Scotland reports. Many newer universities, who usually have hundreds of places on offer, only have a few courses available.

“It is quite tragic that students who have been encouraged to apply to university all their academic life will be turned away” said Mary Senior,
Scottish official for the UCS Scotland lecturers’ union.
